Melissa
Melissa is a freshman at Arapahoe High School in the Littleton School District. She loves learning to do math and science, and doing art projects, along with lots of reading.

Melissa enjoys going to her dance classes, several times a week at the Academy of Colorado Ballet. She performed in the Academy's presentation of Handel's Messiah in November 2006 (above) and a production based on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in May 2006 (below). See more pictures here. Over the summer, Melissa played a part in the Academy of Colorado Ballet Musical Theater group's adaptation of Grease, Jr.

Melissa got to play a small part in the Colorado Ballet production of Dracula on October 19-22, 2006. Some backstage pictures can be found here. We also scanned some photos from one of the performances, courtesy of Colorado Ballet.
She was very excited to have gotten two parts in the David Taylor Dance Theatre production of The Nutcracker that was presented at Lakewood Cultural Center last December (2006). It is lots of hard work, but very rewarding!
Last year she was one of the “Polichinelles” in the “Mother Ginger” scene in the Colorado Ballet production of the Nutcracker at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the Denver Center for Performing Arts. Melissa and some of the girls from the Academy of Colorado Ballet South appeared on the CW2 Morning News with reporter Chris Parente. Some of the video they shot is on their website at CW2, then click on The Nutcracker Returns in the Visits list.
